Always Be Yourself
Prospective employers may see literally hundreds of resumes before choosing an applicant to fill a vacant position. More often than not, employers read resume cover letters that sound like carbon copies of one another. In trying too hard to sound impressive and professional, many job seekers introduce themselves in their cover letter in a manner that sounds insincere and scripted. If I’m on a date with someone I’ve just met, and that person is pulling out every stop trying to sell me on how wonderful he is, chances are pretty great that he’s forgotten to be himself along the way. The same thing can happen on a job interview, or even be apparent in a resume or cover letter.
