Why do you make the assumption that doctors do not stay current? They must complete continuing medical education courses every year, and you had better believe that vaccines and nutrition are prime topics among pediatricians.
But the bottom line is, doctors do not work for the government – not yet. They work for themselves. Private enterprise. If a doctor does not want to have an uncooperative patient in their practice, they have every right to refuse services.
Give doctors credit. They are not refusing to accept those patients that make them no money, like a lawyer would. Doctors want to refuse patients that reject the standard of care expected in the USA.
In America, these patients are free lawyer advice to shop around for a like-minded MD. Supply and demand. Private enterprise! Too bad for these patients (and their children) if NO good doctors agree with their goofy outlook.

We just need some more of the those republican tax cuts and oil company subsidies so republicans can definitively prove that everyone can get something for nothing. Their thesis endures the test of time well over the past 11 years. Why, they have turned one almost military victory into a quagmire and started another, both financially sound adventures, and have increased employment law advice, savings, and the Country’s budget surpluses immensely. If only they had been able to privatize Social Security just before the stock market had its little downturn. If only the wealthy paid no taxes so employment could continue to expand just as it has since the dawn of 2000.
We need political leaders who hold dear their oaths of office and put those oaths above others.

The Wall Street bums and crooks are scared to death that if there is not more next to worthless Federal paper printed that people will stop falling for the stock advice market racket where the people invest perfectly good money in stocks that mean nothing. At first glance, it sounds appealing… the overseas money isn’t being taxed here anyway, so who really loses if it’s brought back tax free advice?
The thing is, though, if companies having access to such money really wanted to help put America back to work, they could just as easily have pulled the money back in by borrowing it, and the interest rate paid on it would be a lot less that the tax rate, under our current tax laws.
I have to wonder, therefore, how motivated companies would be in putting people here back to work if they can pull the money back in tax-free. Would it be worth taxpayer’s money for Congress to spend time changing the tax laws? And you just know there’ll be special interest pork thrown into the mix.
I mean, if there was a guarantee out there that that’s all it would take for businesses to promote employment and capital here if they can repatriate their money tax-free, then perhaps it would be worthwhile.

The thing is big small business advice or for that matter most businesses are amorale… that is to say they react to the business, political and legal environment they operate in. It’s not what they believe in… its what they think will happen and how they can make MONEY at it. This is what the Duke Energies, GE’s, Siemen’s etc. of the world have done… designed business models that allow them to make billions even on loony misguded policies. They know its nonsense (Cap and Tax) but as long as they can profit from it then they go along with it.
These misguided policies if passed will lead to corruption and concentration of economic power to the few at the expense of many. Thank you Mr. Donohue for standing up and strongly opposing these disastrous policies. You have our full support.

I just wanted to thank Dr. Greenfield for his thoughtful article, which helped gel thoughts that I have been having for some time now. I have always felt that one of my primary jobs as a physician was to be an advocate for my patients, and spend considerable time helping them navigate through insurance companies, hospital bureaucracies, and Medicare.
