what is multistage hvac equipment exactly? in a word, nice. not helping, eh? okay. multi stage hvac equipment have multiple burners (if you’re a furance) or multiple compressors (if your an air conditioner) that your furance or air compressor can engage if additional speed is needed in getting your home to a certain temperature. this allows your furance or a/c to catch up if it’s been off for a while and get your home to the temperature you want. it saves energy by only engaging all that capacity when it’s needed. it’s like having an 8 cylinder car that’s always got all 8 cylinders on – that’s wasteful. imagine if it could drop down to 4 cylinders when it only needed 4 – it’d save a lot of gas – same idea here.
